Gradual Shutdown
The shutdown will be completed on September 14, after a phased process that will give players several weeks to use their balances and redeem eligible prizes before the platform goes offline.
The closure affects only LuckyLand Sweeps Casino. VGW said its other brands, including LuckyLand Casino, Chumba Casino and Global Poker, will continue operating as usual.
The first step in the transition already began on Monday, August 3, when players were no longer able to buy new Gold Coin packages. Existing Gold Coin balances remain available for use during the wind-down period.
Gameplay will officially end on August 24, and, from there on, players will not be allowed to access or play casino-style games. However, eligible Sweeps Coins can still be redeemed during the remaining redemption window.
On the final deadline this fall, all prize redemption requests will permanently close and players will no longer be able to access the platform. Any unredeemed eligible prizes remaining after that date will no longer be available.
No Surprise
The announcement does not come as a complete surprise, as industry observers had expected changes after VGW introduced the new LuckyLand Casino platform in late 2025.
Compared to the original LuckyLand Sweeps Casino, which mainly centered around slot games, the newer platform expanded its offerings to include additional casino-style games under the LuckyLand brand.
